So you’re just a nymph, skipping through the woods. And, okay, you are daydreaming a little (unless you get interrupted by privileged jerks who proposition you in tandem. Creeps!).

propably not the right place for this Alert, feel free to put it wherever you think it would find the right readers 😉

oh, Alerts like this are welcome anyplace, thank you!
I wanted to put up a post regarding the upcoming opera days over on Opera Platform (lots of streaming available again) either way and will add this to the bill. This Tito was on ARTE for a while back in 2014, and there is a White Shirt copy (I think there were screencaps of Agnés Aubé with the knife a few months ago?), in case you’re out on a concert. 🙂
Meanwhile, thadieu and I are fretting about this Sunday’s “Poppea” from Schwetzingen, which will be on SWR.de as a web livestream – do you have any experience in capturing off their site? Because I fear thadieu may be geoblocked, and my heavily jailed office Mac has limited capabilities. And I don’t believe it will end up in their Mediathek (there is always hope, though).
LikeLike
Yes, this Tito has been on Arte before. I had not seen the Poppea anouncement yet and cannot find any information about a livestream on SWR TV or internet. Have you got a link?
LikeLike
Did you mean the audio stream on SWR2 at 20:30? If its that that would be easy to record.
LikeLike
it’s kind of hidden –
the stream is announced here:
http://www.swr.de/swr-classic/schwetzinger-festspiele/schwetzinger-festspiele-l-incoronazione-de-poppea/-/id=17055562/did=18570500/nid=17055562/qb708u/index.html
and should be on here:
http://www.swr.de/swr-classic/
it seems to be web only, no TV airing (which is why I doubt it will make it to the Mediathek), and it doesn’t seem as if it will be available on demand afterwards.

Ok, found it. Shall try to capture, lets see what happems

Thank you! I trust your capture abilities more than my restrained Mac or the geo-accessibility. Thadieu and, if she turns out to be blocked tonight, I myself shall try our best, but…

thadieu and Brigitte, ARTE put up a note today that they are airing it, too!
So I hope that means Stream on Demand afterwards…?

i wish the radio broadcast is live.. i would have simply tune in… as for now.. i’m somehow stuck in super religious Bach.. it’s very nice to not understand the language i have to say, much less goosebumps in this country, and more appreciating the music..

I found myself wishing it was live, too. (dealing with work emails and could use some Monteverdi!)

in the spirit of expanding horizon and supporting mezzos, i’ll watch this, with Essi Luttinen as Nerone, to get my ears tuned up. For some reason i never watched the version with A.Coote either, might be in order..

oh, you have new post… i’m a bit annoyed with the male Analta in Helsinki. THat role.. or at least, male singing female, they tend to really over-do it and it becomes annoying in sound. The ones from Paris (with ACA + Jacobs) were exceptional in the regard, especially Thomas Allen.
LikeLike
Yes, Allen was great in being very lowkey, subtle and “natural” – a bit like Guy de Meys Linfea last Sunday: the motion patterns of a “nice old lady”, subtly coding a neutral body underneath.

And – dear me – are you aware what ” the opera platform” is offering, starting tonight? Besides a live Ginastera opera from the teatro real also some quite interesting performances all of them starting at midnight (staying online after that). Among them is also a Poppea from Lille 2012 with an interesting cast: Haim, Hallenberg etc which at least I have not seen yet.

I watched this last night and it was hot! Seems like they weren’t too prudish in 17th century, I was quite surprised by the racy libretto (not that I’m complaining). Or maybe it’s just that I’m relatively new to Baroque…
