The Twelve White Shirts of Christmas, 2017 (9)

[Moving from Mingardo Year 2017 to Mingardo Year 2018, no matter the headdresses (or anything else, really. I hope someone remembered to bring the smelling salts): Sara Mingardo (Andronico) in Handel’s “Tamerlano”, Madrid 2009.]

On the ninth Day of Christmas, the White Shirts sent to me:

One Heartbreaking Italian Contralto

.

.

and…

…one Roll In The Hay (#BringYourKinks):

Alice Coote (Vitellia) and Anna Stéphany (Sesto) in Mozart’s “La Clemenza di Tito”, Glyndebourne 2017.

…one Untied Bowtie:

Malena Ernman (Prince Orlofsky) in Strauß’ “Die Fledermaus”, Glyndebourne 2003.

…one Firm Grasp on a White Shirt Situation:

Renée Fleming (Princess Werdenberg) and Elīna Garanča (Octavian) in Strauss’ “Rosenkavalier”, NewYork/Met 2017.

…one Butch Babylonian (*swoon*):

Daniela Barcellona (Arsace) in Rossini’s “Semiramide”, Munich/Staatsoper 2017.

…one Hormonal Roman Emperor:

Giuseppina Bridelli (Nerone) and Emanuela Galli (Poppea) in Monteverdi’s “L’incoronazione di Poppea”, Schwetzingen 2017.

…one Forever Pining Prince of Ponto:

Myrtò Papatanasiu (Sifare) and Patricia Petibon (Aspasia) in Mozart’s “Mitridate”, Paris/TCE 2016.

…one Smooth Case of Checkmate:

Jeanine de Bique (Annio) in Mozart’s “La clemenza di Tito”, Salzburg 2017.

…and one strong drink, because you will be needing it.

Anna Bonitatibus (Sesto) and Véronique Gens (Vitellia) in Mozart’s “La clemenza di Tito”, Brussels 2013.

GrammarGeek: in case you’d like a starting point.. this was practically the first thing i stumbled upon back in 2013 when I searched for “Mingardo opera” (or might have been “Mingardo Handel”) on tube.

    1. Nice, so that was a Scala/Staatsoper Berlin coproduction? (took me a while to come up with these few words of reply, because magically I seem to scroll up to that Ottone gif, then through all 12WS of Christmas pics!)
