…While I am looking forward to the new production, I did get a bit “ja, ja.” at the news of the old one retiring. S’ist un einmal der Lauf der Welt, yet not in a bad way. It just is.

Also: wonderful casting – a stellar last Marschallin for this indeed iconic production! (also including Brower as Octavian, Müller as Sophie)

I’ve seen this one live in the house more than once. Swooing over people on stage. Contemplating Fassbaender’s run. Contemplating the Marschallinnen and Octavians who have followed.  A piece of history indeed!
